ssuss academy report 2015

It is really pleasing to see this summary report on our Junior and Elite Academy Programme for 2015, it gives us as the club the confidence that we are indeed building in the right direction. The performance of our teams and individual players has been very good throughout the year, compliments to the work that has been done not only this year, but in the previous years.

The SuperSport United Soccer Schools programme is no doubt one of the leading grass roots development programmes in the world, and we are proud to be the only club in South Africa with such a programme. Our Junior Academy teams have been extremely competitive in their respective leagues, playing an attractive brand of attacking football with high technical and skill levels. This is borne out in the fact that we have been the highest scoring team in all the age groups and have been complemented by many for our attractive style of play.

The Elite Academy also continues to remain the leading force in South African football, and is strengthened further by the foundation laid by our Junior Academy and the SuperSport United Soccer Schools. We have reached national historic milestones this year, and have assisted our country, South Africa, to also achieve historic milestones at Under 17 International level. We were the first South African team to reach the final of the Gauteng International Future Champions, losing on penalties to Torino of Italy. We had 7 players, the most by any club, in the South African Under 17 National team that reached the final of CAF Under 17 Youth Championships for the First time, and became the First South African Under 17 team to qualify and participate in the FIFA UNDER 17 World Cup.

Congratulations to all those involved in our Family, parents, guardians, players, coaches, trainers, staff and supporters.

While we have obtained good league results, we must never divert from our main objective and goal:

“TO CONTINUE TO PRODUCE PLAYERS TO PLAY PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY, AND TO REPRESENT THEIR NATIONAL TEAMS AT YOUTH AND SENIOR NATIONAL LEVEL!”
